The 343 pilgrims on the first batch of Lagos State have proceeded to the holy city of Makkah in continuation of their spiritual exercise for the year 2026 Hajj pilgrimage.
The pilgrims were in high spirits as they departed Madinah, after four days of fervent prayers and devotional activities at the Prophet’s Mosque in the city of Madinah.
Meanwhile, the second and third batches of the pilgrims who arrived Madinah on Sunday, have embarked on Ziyyarah (visit to some of the most significant historical sites in Madinah).
The visits provided them the opportunity of reflecting on the rich Islamic history, the sacrifices of the early Muslims, and historical enlightenment, as they continue preparations for the major Hajj rites in Makkah.
Among the notable historical sites visited were Masjid Quba, the first Mosque built in Madinah; Mount Uhud, the site of the famous Battle of Uhud; Masjid Qiblatain, where the Prophet was directed by Allah to change from facing Jerusalem to Makkah; Jannatul Baqi, the grave site of many companions of Prophet Muhammad (SAW); and Sab’ah Masajid (the Seven Mosques), known for their connection to the Battle of the trench.
