The National Hajj Commission of Nigeria (NAHCON) and the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) have reaffirmed their commitment to closer inter-agency cooperation aimed at strengthening security, safety and crowd management during Hajj operations.
The renewed pledge came on Wednesday when NSCDC Commandant General Dr. Ahmed Abubakar Audi paid a courtesy visit to NAHCON Chairman/CEO Ambassador Ismail Abba Yusuf at the Commission’s headquarters, Hajj House, Abuja.
According to a statement by Shafii Sani Mohammed, Head of Information and Publications at NAHCON, the meeting focused on deepening existing collaboration in pilgrim security, orderly crowd movement, safety protocols and overall coordination of Hajj activities.
Dr. Audi commended Ambassador Yusuf’s leadership and the ongoing reforms designed to reposition Nigeria’s Hajj industry. He assured NAHCON of the NSCDC’s continued support, emphasising that sustained multi-agency collaboration remains essential to protecting the safety and wellbeing of Nigerian pilgrims.
In response, Ambassador Yusuf thanked the Commandant General for the visit and restated NAHCON’s determination to maintain and strengthen the partnership. He described the collaboration as critical to the success, security and smooth running of future Hajj operations, particularly in guaranteeing effective security arrangements and orderly movement of pilgrims.
The engagement highlighted the vital role of inter-agency coordination in managing the security and operational demands of large-scale religious gatherings, with both agencies committed to delivering a safer and better-organised Hajj experience for Nigerian pilgrims.
