Rector of National Hajj Commission of Nigeria’s
(NAHCON) Hajj Institute of Nigeria (HIN), Professor Muhammad Nasiruddeen Maiturare on Thursday, April 13, 2023, made a SUBMISSION ON INTEGRATING SOME HAJJ & UMRAH SERVICES INTO THE NATIONAL SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS FRAMEWORK to Stakeholders.
The submission by Prof Maiturare which took place at Hajj House, Abuja, introduces some of the peculiarities under Hajj and Umrah services that requires such tailoring, for the consideration of the team involving the National Board for Technical Education (NBTE), Nigeria’s Sector Skills Council (SSC) for Hospitality, Catering, Travel & Tourism and the Hajj Institute of Nigeria (HIN).
The tourism sector, worldwide for long, has established occupational standards and career paths.
Hajj and Umrah, generally considered under the sector has peculiarities that require tailoring of existing standards to address these peculiarities.
The submission by Prof Maiturare to Stakeholders is coming against the backdrop of the resolve of the Alhaji Zikrullah Kunle Hassan led NAHCON to professionalise the Hajj Industry to build the capacity of Hajj & Umrah managers.
