Some Nigerian Muslim journalists on Wednesday, June 14, gathered at Prophet Muhammad Mosque in Madina, Saudi Arabia, to organise a special prayer for Senator Idiat Oluranti Adebule and Alhaji Zikrullah Kunle Hassan, Chairman/CEO of the National Hajj Commission of Nigeria (NAHCON).
The special prayer was held a day after Dr. Adebule, the immediate former deputy governor of Lagos State, was inaugurated as the Senator representing Lagos West, alongside other lawmakers of the 10th National Assembly.
The Muslim media practitioners who organised the prayer are among members of the National Media Team of NAHCON for the coverage of Hajj2023.
During the special prayer officiated by the Editor, Sunday Guardian, Alhaji AbdulKabir Garuba, attendees recited some selected supplications extracted from ‘Adhkar Al-mathurat.
They also recited the last ten verses of the Glorious Qur’an to seek Allah’s guardance and protection for the Senator and the NAHCON Chairman.
“We thank Allah who made it possible for us to gather in Masjid Al Nabawi, one of the holiest mosques of Islam, in honour of Senator Idiat Oluranti Adebule and Alhaji Zikrullah Hassan. I pray for Allah’s acceptance of our prayers”, said Dr. Tunde Akanni, HOD, Mass Communication, Lagos State University, (LASU).
In his lecture which centered on leadership, Dr. Akanni, thanked Allah for the vision He gave the duo of Dr Adebule and Alhaji Zikrullah Hassan, who have succeeded in inspiring a lot of people with their exemplary leadership qualities.
“More importantly they have been discharging their responsibilities while abiding by the tenet of Islam,” he noted.
Dr. Akanni therefore called on the Muslims to cultivate and sustain leadership in line with the dictates of Islam.
According to him,” All of us are living witnesses to the fact that they have managed to lead smaller consistencies before they attain their current leadership position. It’s therefore up to the rest of us who are looking up to them for further leadership positions, to cultivate and sustain leadership in line with Islamic principles
“For us as Muslims, there is nothing that should be treasured as much as abiding by the principles of Islam as provided for in the Quran and Hadith of the Prophet, SAW”, he noted.
Some of the respected veterans including a co-founder of Hajj Panorama, Alhaji Mikail Mumuni; CEO Aims Media, Alhaja Aminah Muhammad and Alhaji Bello Ozugha of the Eagle Online offered individuals supplications for the success of Senator Adebule and Alhaji Hassan.
They also used the occasion to pray for Nigeria and the leadership of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.
In his closing remark, the converner, Alhaji Tajudeen Adebanjo of The Nation, extolled his colleagues for gracing the special prayer in honour of Dr. Adebule and Alhaji Hassan.
“We pray Almighty Allah continue to be with them and guide them in this leadership position and we also pray for ourselves as well. Thank you very much for coming, we pray Almighty Allah be with each and everyone of us,” he concluded.
The team later proceeded to a Turkish Restaurant for a reception.
