The Companion, an association of Muslim men in business and the professions, has concluded plans to host a grand reception in honour of the immediate former Chairman, CEO of National Hajj Commission of Nigeria (NAHCON), Alhaji Zikrullah Olakunle Hassan
The reception under the chairmanship of the President of MUSWEN and Deputy President (South), NSCIA, Alhaji Rasaki Oladejo is aimed to celebrate and recognise Alhaji Hassan’s achievements during his tenure as the head of the Commission.
Strictly by invitation, the event is expected to be held on Sunday, February 18, 2024, at an upscale hotel in Ikeja, Lagos.
Host and National Amir of the faith-based organisation, Engr. Kamil Olalekan described the former chairman as an astute hajj administrator whose indelible mark at the commission would stand the test of time in Nigeria.
He said that Alhaji Zikrullah Hassan succeeded in raising the bar of hajj administration in Nigeria and in Africa, with the groundbreaking reforms adopted to revolutionise all aspects of the operations of the commission.
The group said that despite the fact that the ex-NAHCON boss faced daunting challenges posed by the outbreak of COVID-19 pandemic in the wake of his appointment, he hit the ground running and never looked back in making Nigeria a role model in hajj management globally.
The Companion contended that Alhaji Hassan would be fondly remembered for ensuring the take-off of Hajj Saving Scheme; establishment of the Hajj Institute for the training of hajj operators; making the National Hajj Commission of Nigeria NACHON self-financing; increased awareness and sensitization on hajj by taking the message to the grassroots and for driving the policy of inclusivity and openness in hajj management.
Alhaji Hassan was the Chairman of the Commission between December 2019 and October 2023.
