The National Hajj Commission of Nigeria (NAHCON) has said the reduction of 2026 Nigeria’s qouta by Saudi Arabia applies other countries as well.
NAHCON said this in a Public Announcement where it pointed out that “The measure applies to all participating countries and was introduced to mitigate the outbreak of diseases and address logistical and safety concerns.”

Public Announcement
The Commission hereby informs all intending pilgrims for the 2026 Hajj that the submission of Health Fitness Certificates is mandatory and must be completed before the official deadline to enable timely visa processing.
All intending pilgrims are therefore advised to undergo the required medical screening and submit their certificates without delay. Failure to comply may affect visa issuance.
The Commission also wishes to clarify that the reduction of the Hajj quota from 95,000 to 50,000 is not peculiar to Nigeria. The measure applies to all participating countries and was introduced to mitigate the outbreak of diseases and address logistical and safety concerns.
The public is kindly urged to cooperate and remain assured of the Commission’s commitment to a safe and well-organized 2026 Hajj.
